God’s Smile Factory

“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind… You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Matthew 22:37&39 NKJV

A few years ago, God gave Monica the phrase:

“WITH HIS LOVE, GOD WILL MAKE YOU SMILE AGAIN.”

Having experienced the impact of mistakes, carelessness, lack of education, accidents, and various life situations, Monica understands the human tendency to conceal discomfort to avoid shame, rejection, ridicule, and criticism. She recognizes the pain that many endure without access to treatment or support, particularly in less privileged areas, whether due to physical or emotional conditions.

As a dentist, Monica finds joy in witnessing patients transform from pain and diminished self-esteem caused by dental issues such as cavities or stains, to smiling confidently again after treatment. As a servant of God, she takes pleasure in reminding individuals who have lost their smiles due to life circumstances that there is someone who loves them unconditionally , regardless of their situation. God’s desire is not to condemn but to save, console, strengthen, and bring joy.

“I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you” Jeremiah 31:3 ESV

Monica’s vision is to bless and assist those in the greatest need, restoring their smiles both inwardly and outwardly. She dedicates her profession and talents to serving others, inspired by the love of the One who loved us first.

In Guatemala, Monica collaborates with Christian in Action, working on mobile clinics in villages where churches are established. Additionally, she dedicates one week each month to supporting a rural hospital in Cubulco, Baja Verapaz, four hours away from Guatemala City. She also supports medical teams from various organizations and churches, and in the city, she assists a clinic in providing treatments to patients who cannot afford them.

More about Mónica Jordán – Doctor of Dental Surgery

Monica was born and raised in Guatemala City, at the age of 15 she began serving on medical mission trips around Guatemala, without knowing that it would be the beginning of her life in missions.

Monica has spent 20 years working medical missions alongside teams from different organizations, churches and ministries. She has also supported children’s ministry, women’s ministry, served as a doctor, an interpreter, and whatever else is needed.

Upon finishing dental school, Monica’s parents helped her open her own dental office, one of her greatest gifts in life. She was very happy to start working there but she could never put aside her heart for missions; getting involved and falling more and more in love with helping others.

In 2016 God opened the door for Monica to attend her first medical missionary conference. From the moment she entered that place, God spoke into her life, reaffirming her purpose and injecting new dreams for missions.

After an interview at World Medical Mission, God allowed Monica to be part of them for short term trips. At that time her plan was to work in her office and do 2 months on missions, but God had something else in mind.

In 2017, Monica traveled to Peru for 4 months where she had the opportunity to serve in 2 locations. This experience completely changed her life and it was there that she felt the call to full-time missions.

In 2018 Monica sold her clinic and left other jobs she had at that time to begin the process of preparing for the new adventure! In 2019 through the post-residency program at World Medical Mission/Samaritan’s Purse, she moved to a missionary hospital in Petén, Guatemala for 7 months. She then I moved to a missionary hospital in Honduras where she lived for 2 and a half years running the dental clinic, working with women and teaching gymnastics to children.

Monica returned to Guatemala at the beginning of 2023, serving in her own country has always been in her heart, because she has seen the need first hand in rural areas. Monica knows that during these years that God allowed her to be in other countries, He has been preparing every area of her life, her heart, and her character for the moment in which she now lives.
