Life for Life

My name is José Eduardo Calvache Ponce and my wife is Shirley Ibanovva Quezada Flores. We have two daughters, Daniela Abigail is 13 years old, and Joyce Rebeca is 11 years old. Our relationship with God began when we were young. In Sunday School our teachers instilled in us the love of God and since then we have served God in various ministries within the church. We have also prepared ourselves and trained to serve the Lord as He leads.

Since 2019, I felt a strong call from God to evangelize and preach the love of Christ in Catamayo, Province of Loja-Ecuador. When the Lord put it in my heart to raise up a Missionary work in this area, He established the following vision to:

  • Be a Christian Church focused on individual evangelism as a collective of the community where we serve.
  • Make disciples with the power, the authority and guidance of the Holy Spirit.
  • Reflect the Glory and Greatness of the Creator.
  • Sow truth in many hearts that the Lord Jesus gave his life in exchange for ours (LIFE FOR LIFE) John 3:16.

Today we find ourselves fulfilling that vision as we serve the Lord full time with our family. Currently we are establishing churches in our town to better develop the pastoral ministry to which God has called us. We are seeing the hand and mercy of God reach many as we serve the local community in the following ways:

  • Houses of peace that motivate the believer to study the Bible.
  • Discipling families, children, young adults and adults.
  • Ministry through Pastoral Counseling.
  • Evangelizing sectors that are difficult to access through the love of Jesus.
  • Visiting vulnerable sectors and those with limited economic resources, helping with food and clothing where possible.
  • Praying for people with disabilities.
  • Visiting schools in order to raise awareness among young people with drug prevention workshops and sharing the love of God.
  • Praying for the elderly and children with cancer, among others.
  • In the Ministerial field, we are discipling and raising up new leaders to be our support in the Ministry.

Our vision moving forward, that God has put in my heart, is that in ten years we will be a church with influence in our community, legally constituted by the establishments of our Ecuadorian government. After this we will be able to reach many more places in our country. Our objective is to support more local Missionaries who have that passion to reach those who still do not know the love of Christ. For now it is a dream, but with God’s help all things are possible.
