Sandy Ruth, sensing a call to missions in 1965, followed her sister to work at Christians in Action Missions International in Long Beach, CA. She not only worked for the mission but completed the missionary course during the first couple of years. Then she met a young single missionary, Marshall Ruth, who was home on furlough from Korea. They were married and returned to Korea as a missionary couple in the late 1960s. Sandy not only learned to love Marshall but also kimchi along with other Korean delicacies. They served together in Korea sharing Christ and working to plant churches until the mid-1990s when they returned to represent Christians in Action on the East Coast of the United States. They finally retired and moved back to Marshall’s home near Athens, Ohio. Marshall passed away a few years ago, but Sandy continues serving the Lord in a Korean church near her home where she is a Sunday School teacher. She surprises the children when she reverts to using a Korean word or phrase every now and then.
