By God’s grace, over the past few years, Transformation House continues to develop partnerships with different children’s homes, schools, drug rehabilitation centers, churches, and the first hospital in this nation which happens to be located in the same city as this project! The establishment of Transformation House has been birthed from these meaningful relationships with local friends, family, ministry leaders, pastors, teachers, doctors, and students, along with the realization that one of the biggest needs in this Asian country is the exposure to environments that allow for creative expression and exploration that promotes healing. This is referred to as facilitated creative play and education.
Through creative play and education, Transformation House helps develop core life skills such as:
- Executive Function — the ability to plan, organize, make decisions, and manage emotions.
- Gross Motor Skills — the ability to control large muscle groups for movement, balance, and coordination.
- Fine Motor Skills — small, precise movements made with the hands, fingers, feet, and toes, essential for writing, buttoning clothes, using utensils, and more.
- Visual-Spatial Awareness — the ability to understand where objects are in space, including one’s own body; these skills are used for tasks ranging from tying shoes to reading a map or driving a car.
While this country has a rich and vibrant cultural dynamic, its dominant educational approach continues to emphasize memorization and reading. As humans made in God’s image, He designed us to grow and develop within environments that allow for freedom of expression without shame or criticism.
Transformation House seeks to create an environment within its village, city, and country that teaches, encourages, and makes room for children and adults to explore their creative voice and life through faith. They currently offer trauma care and coaching with a certified specialist, massage and prayer with a certified massage therapist, and a range of dance classes (ballet, local cultural dance, contemporary, choreography, worship, flagging, and more) as well as art classes for both children and adults.
