Robyn has been in business – Large ones and small ones – as a department manager, branch manager, or business owner for most of her adult life. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work and is currently studying towards an MDiv/Missions at ACU. Robyn believes that our Christian hope is a life eternal – not just a never-ending life, but a life fulfilled and life lived in the presence of God, through the indwelling Spirit of truth, given as a down payment and deposit on Jesus’s coming reign. We are a royal priesthood, a chosen people, the testimony of His excellence and we no longer live in the dark but in his marvelous light. (1 Peter 2:9) The hope in this identity and this kingdom of God reign is what compels Robyn to serve others, share the good news and draw them together into community. It might be over a cup of coffee, in exercise, or in prayer – there is always good news to proclaim!

Robyn is from West Texas and in the past 9 years has moved from business to missions. She has most recently has served as Executive Director for a women’s ministry in East Texas – Hope Ministries for the last two years. Robyn has raised one son “who is the best of me. He is the bravest part of me, the smartest part of me, the most creative part of me and my favorite person to hang out with.”

In addition to academic studies, Robyn has pursued training and knowledge about living whole and holy lives. Robyn is a certified fitness instructor through Revelation Wellness® – because part of being in community means that our bodies come with us to the party and we need to care for them as an act of worship. She has been trained as a HeartSync® facilitator to heal the brokenhearted so that fulfillment of the first commandment can be realized: To Love God with all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength. The second part of that commandment to “Love others, as we love ourselves.” is a command towards lining in community. Robyn loves community. God created us for community! We are created in HIS image. His image is the Triune God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. From community God created mankind for community with Himself and others.

Robyn has owned two coffee shops and the biggest blessing was this natural, authentic growth of community. These communities have continued even after the coffee shops closed. You see, a coffee shop is one of the few places where people are comfortable going and staying at alone. Many won’t go out to eat in a restaurant, go to the movies, go to a formal church gathering, or attend many public events alone – but they will come to a coffee shop. Robyn sees the joy and the honor in serving these people and getting to know them – hearing their stories and seeing them begin to connect with others. It is a delight to watch the lone one become a part of a community. We see Jesus all throughout the gospels living, loving, and teaching in community. This connected-ness is part of our Original Design. We need each other. This is church!

For this reason, Robyn is joining with Shores of Grace Ministries to open and operate a coffee shop that will serve as a place of community and ministry in Recife, PE, Brazil. Shores of Grace Ministries is a worship and missionary ministry currently headquartered in Recife, Brazil, led by Nic and Rachael Billman. “Our focus is setting those in prostitution and abuse free and walking them through restoration; taking the love of the Father to the poor and the broken and helping them see their true value, and equipping and serving the church in Brazil. The goal of our staff is to reveal Father God in all that we do…” Shores of Grace has been in Brazil since 2010. A new way achieve this goal as a ministry is to enter the marketplace and plant a church – Open a coffee shop.

This coffee shop will serve to provide a training center and jobs for those who are choosing to leave the streets of prostitution, as well as be a place of ministry for those in business and those on the streets. Additionally, the hope is that it will be a revenue stream for the rescue home for children that Shores of Grace operates. Robyn will be there as a volunteer and not paid staff so that salary dollars can go to those who are needing transformation.

7 years ago, Nic and Rachael met Robyn in her coffee shop that served as a place of ministry for many ‘churched’ and ‘unchurched’ groups. They began to dream this dream of coffee on a mission in Brazil. The time has come.

HIS love…Never quits!
