Timothy International was co-founded by Rick and Janie Burkhalter in early 2006. They have been in pastoral ministry for nearly 4 decades. As pastors they recognized the need to encourage, strengthen and inspire the leaders that they worked with in the nations, regardless of denomination. Statistics show that huge numbers of God’s servants don’t make it to retirement age, they burn out and quit. Why? They pour all they have into those they are committed to ministering to, but seldom get the chance to have someone pour into them. They need someone to help them, someone to “hold up their arms” as they did for Moses in the Exodus while he prayed over the battle.
Timothy International is modeled after Paul’s ministry in Acts 14-16. Paul along with Timothy, Barnabas and others thought it best to return to the churches they had started to strengthen, encourage and inspire the leadership to “keep the faith”. Rick and Janie stepped out in faith by leaving their careers and started a new journey in missions. God has given them faithful partners and prayer warriors who have aligned themselves with the vision to advance the kingdom of God through missions. They have seen the vast need and are seeing others join the team at Timothy International to continue to carry out the great commission.
Although T. I. began small, with Rick and Janie as the only ministers, God continues to bless Timothy International with more people and more countries. What began in Uganda, Africa continues to grow and has expanded to different ministries throughout Africa as well as the Middle East, Europe, Australia, USA and South America.
In 2023, after 17 years serving along side Rick and Janie on the board of directors at Timothy International, Tommy and Lindsay Hood followed the call to lead Timothy International as Executive Director and Director of Operations.
The Hoods have over 20 years of ministry experience serving the global church as both a pastor and missionaries. In 2008, while serving on staff at a church in Abilene, TX, Tommy and Lindsay received a prophetic call to the nations. Tommy and Lindsay have served that call in some capacity ever since. The Hoods most recently served on staff at Prepare International for 6 years, a world missions organization equipping pastors and their emerging leaders in over 35 biblical courses in Europe, Central and South America, Africa and Asia. Since 2008, Tommy and Lindsay have been to over 22 nations.
Tommy and Lindsay have a passion to see the Kingdom of God reign in every nation and see the great commission fulfilled in all the earth. We are “Pastors Without Borders” championing those called to “Go”.
